Another fantastic cruise with Celebrity, back on Millenium.
The ship is great, lots of space, fantastic crew, service everything.
For the record I would say that the restaurant food wasn't quite as good as I remeber it the last time....that may be because I have taken up a pastime of eating in first class restaurants as often as possible.
I have to rercommend the Speciality Dining Restaurant on board, now that was "to die for" we went there 4 times in all! We were lucky enough to be at the first Special Vintage Wine Dinner that was held in the Wine Cellar (it's a private dining room, that also houses the most expensive wines on the ship)that really was an evening to remember! The waiters, Maitre D, Sommelier and the whole team were outstanding.
We really enjoyed the ports of call, especially Acapulco, the Cliff Divers at La Quebrada are a good enought reason.
Cartagena, Colombia was a real surprise, the old town is beautiful, so much history and flowers everywhere, not scary at all.
The Canal itself is awesome, this was my 3rd transit of the canal, and even as a "Girlie" I never tire of this feat of engineering, I will do it again, hopefully West to East for once.
The commentators on board for the transit were excellent, very knowledgable
Although we didn't go to many shows (we prefer to chat with new found friends) in Michaels Club and The Martini Bar, normally we hit the nightclub regularly as well, however this time the age of our fellow passengers was mostly a good dealm older, so not so many people to bop the night away with. (This is to be expected on a 2 weeks cruise as most U.S people have to wait a lifetime to get that much holiday, for many it's 15 years before they get 2 weeks)
I can recommend the Spa very highly, we spent quite a bit of time there, treating ourselves to treatments, The Hot Stone Massage is not to be missed, go on treat yourself, "You're worth it" I also signed up for a course of 3 special facials and did notice a decrease in fine lines! I also had my hair put up for formal nights, great work girls, I really felt like a million dollars.
There is always something going on, movies to see, lectures to go to, ice carving, cocktail shaking, wine aoppreciation, bridge...the list is endless, but you can also just soak up the sun and wait for a waiter to fetch you a cool drink, or a chilled towel to cool you down (I was definitely a Champion at that)
To sum up, if you like quality, good surroundings, great food, superb service, friendly staff, amazing Martinis and an all round fabulous holiday, then Millenium and Celebrity fit the bill!
p.s The only tour we took was the one of San Francisco that dropped us at the airport at the end, that was excellent, only one glitch, they don't seem to appreciate that cruise passengers tend to have a lot of luggage, so there was a short delay whilst that was sorted, but great not to waste the last day sitting around the airport.

Quality of Food4
Loved the Speciality Restaurant, the Goats Cheese Souffle is the worlds best.

Not our scene but others seemed to be impressed with most of the shows
Shore Excursionsn/a
Only did the disembarkation tour of San Francisco that dropped off at the airport. Great.

We always take an inside cabin on a high deck, ideal and still enough room for 2 ladies to unpack a different outfit for each night!

We too have just returned from a wonderful cruise with Millennium through the Panama canal. This is our 16th time with Celebrity and whilst the standards are still way ahead of other cruise ships there is evidence of a slight lowering of standards in some areas that need to be addressed. The dress code for formal evenings is being ignored by some passengers! The furniture in the casual dining room on deck 10 is distinctly "tatty". As usual the staff are all extremely friendly and courteous and nothing is too much trouble for the waiters in the main dining room. At the beginning of the cruise our food was arriving at the table quite cool to say the least, but after a word with the waiter he ensured that thereafter it was served much hotter and to our liking. We have now booked on the maiden voyage of Equinox out of Southampton next year.
