We spent a few lovely days in Vancouver prior to embarking on Celebrity Infinity. Our 2nd cruise on Infinity and 6th or 8th with Celebrity. We chose Celebrity out of choice for most of our cruises. Had a midships inside cabin cat. 9, which was beautifully clean, spacious and with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Service throughout was very good. People seemed mostly keen to please. Sightseeing was done on our own and all the trips we made were most interesting. The weather for the voyage (Vancouver to San Fransisco) could hardly have been better - especially as we had been told the weather may not be too good. It poured with rain the whole time we were in Ketchikan but that did not stop us from going to see the Lumberjack show - which is a must and great fun.

The Captain got us so close to the Hubbard Glacier we could see the 'calving' which was a most remarkable and exciting sight. We now know why people return to Alaska again and again.

There is always lots to do on board - even though a lot of the things (Trivia etc) are not our scene. Thought getting the passengers to do a lot of the entertainment was a good idea for Celebrity but it did seem to take up a lot of time. I hope that was just an experiment that Celebrity will not think to repeat again. It would most probably be more welcome on some of the cruise lines catering for much younger people. Can't comment on the evenings entertainment at we always have 2nd dining and we would rather not rush dinner to get to the entertainment as we prefer to dance after dining. (Helps to keep the weight down).

The food on Infinity this time was much better than previously (Panama canal 2/3 years ago). In fact the food was even better than we have had on any Celebrity cruise we have been on previously - so much so that we didn't go to the speciality restaurant this time which we usually always do at least once or twice. My husband is not a vegetarian but does not eat any kind of meat. This trip our asst. maitre 'd, our waiter and asst. waiter went out of their way to make sure my husband was able to have something nice to eat each evening - which on other cruises has not been the case.

We had spent a few days in San Francisco on a previous cruise so we chose the Celebrity tour of the sights of San Fran. for a few hours prior to being taken to the airport for our flight home. Our only gripe was that tour - it was supposed to have been of 5 hours duration but because of the lack of good organisation we didn't disembark until much later and only had about half the time left for the tour. Not the tour people's fault, the excellent guide apologised but said that they had been waiting on the dockside for us at the appointed hour. They could not extend the tour as some of the people on our coach had earlier flights to catch. I do feel that Celebrity do not take the care that they should when their passengers disembark. We were not alone in feeling that we were rather left to our own devices. Which was a shame after such a wonderful cruise.

We did this cruise in Septerber and the food in the main restaurant was terrible there was always someone on our table sending it back. Entainment was very poor. Some of the tours were not worth the money and we feel we were ripped off. We agree with the disembarkment on the last day, it was circus.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. We may have found the meals improved, especially for my non-meat eating Husband, simply because both our waiters and the asst. maitre 'd really cared that he should have something to eat that he could enjoy. It may have helped that we were the only ones on a table meant for six and they all had a little less to do and so could take a bit more time for us. We have been on a number of cruises with Celebrity and have usually found them good value for money, except for those things mentioned in my review. We started cruising with Celebrity a few years ago because they seemed, for the price, to be more our style of cruising with regard to the overall experience. So far, apart from minor annoyances, we have not been disappointed.
