We have saild with Celebrity on 3 previous occasions and found them to be pretty good. This was our first cruise on Galaxy. We arrived at Rome airport and the transfer staff were very efficient. An hour later we were on board as check-in was swift (and we'd done most of it on-line). Our cabins were ready and we had an outside on deck 8. The cabin was spacious, with good muted colours and everything you could ask for. The TV wasn't that special though with a rather well used remote, however we hardly used it. The bathroom was standard cruise line bathrooms, small but adequate. Our steward introduced himself straight away and couldn't have been more helpful.

No problems with getting baggage - it had all arrived within a couple of hours of arrival.

We did experience a problem with our dining table. We are quite flexible regarding table size and we were taken to a table for four, with the other couple already sat down. However they completely ignored us and insisted to the Maitre D that they had booked a table for 2. This was extremely uncomfortable but we also complained about this "situation" and the couple were moved the following evening. We had another couple join us, who were great. We have had this before on Celebrity, on previous occasions we have been put with people who don't speak English - they need to sort this out. Food was pretty good, however not as good as it could have been. The food in the Oasis Restaurant was excellent and the choices for both breakfast and lunch was very good.

The service in the bars was faultless and very friendly. Drink prices very reasonable.

Ports of call were excellent and we did 2 excursions (in Istanbul and Athens). Both tour guides were excellent.

Several problems with the tendering service especially at Mykonos, - it took ages to actually get on the tender after getting your tender ticket. However this was improved at Santorini.

The entertainment was pretty poor (and again this is an overall problem with Celebrity). The shows were poor and the entertainers were those we had previously seen on another cruise. The bands and other musicians were excellent and there was dancing available every night.

The photographers were at every port as you disembarked which is a nusiance - and there were too many occasions when the various departments of the ship were constantly trying to sell you something.

The disembarkation procedures ar Rome was excellent, very well organised although we got off the ship at 7am and were at the airport at 7.50am and the check-in didn't open until 9am, so we had to hang about for over an hour before we could even get airside

Overall a very enjoyable cruise with some great ports of call and excellent service, just a few niggles that need to be improved.
