Took the Century on the 31st of October cruise, travelling with a freind who had never cruised before. My third trip on Century and it's a great size ship to find your way around.
Unfortunatly the weather was not so kind to us but the rest of the cruise was very enjoyable. Lots of extras with Select Captains Club membership and all the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpfull.
OK the concierge class cabin are not over large but certainly very comfortable and the ship always looked to be very clean.
I think people loose sight of the fact that cruising has come down in price over the years, and this cruise was a bargain ( £ 700 per person for 10 nights in a cc grade cabin !! ) You couldn't stay in a 3 star hotel in the UK for that price and have all your food included, which was plentyfull and very tasty. I beleive you could have taken this cruise for about £ 450 if you had an inside cabin. What excellent value for money.
Lower prices mean that cruising is accessable to all sorts of people so dress standards are likely to slip, and cheaper cruises mean the cruise lines have to cut back on some of the extra touches, but I still fell that Celebrity offer a quality product at a good price. Certainly better than Princess who charge you for ice cream !!
My only bug bear is the new smoking policy, which means the balcony is somewhat redundant. Why don't they have the same policy as sister line Royal Caribbean and allow smoking on outside balconies ?
My friend had a suberb time and she can't wait for her next cruise. I'm looking forward to my transatlantic on the Constellation and my Alaska trip on the Mercury next year.
