We cruised on our first ever cruise aboard Celebrity Infinity from Ft Lauderdale to San Fransisco via the Panama Canal.
We really had a good time, the ship was so confortable & our suite was tastefull.
We prefere to be stationed forward of midship & on a higher level which we were, the ship was very stable (at least on this trip) we did not feel any movement. The Food was very good in the main restaurant but we did eat in the speciallity restaurant on 3 occasions which was exceptional and worth the extra.
The ports visited were poor in Costa Rica, Jamaica, Colombia but we fell in love with Mexico, and the Hi-lite was transiting the Panama Canal what an engineering marval.
Nothing was wrong with the cruise but we have some thoughts, we would recommend that the Cruise line visits different countries, like Honduras, San Salvador, Panama City and not 3 destinations in Mexico.
More top deck shaded areas, and later shows for the late dinner sitting, and we just hated the gratuity system, we would offer gratuities to key personel but it is expected on Celebrity to give a min of 15% to a full range of staff, these payments are their wages I think, we paid on the last day, but others pre-paid, this was not a nice experience, costing us $300 each for our cabin, but overall we were pretty pleased.
We will cuise again, proberly with Princess to see the differences, we certainly would recommend Celebrity

Jamaica we spent the day, well 4,5 hrs at Breezes Hotel on the beach at Montego Bay Cost was ca $50 each, the hotel was not very friendly, a bit run down and the time could have been longer by another 2 hrs. Do not do this excursion.

I will have to disagree regarding Celebrity Infinity. I took my husband on a cruise to Hawaii last year for a special birthday and managed to loose nearly a stone in weight due to the lack of vegetarian food available to me. What should have been a holiday of a lifetime turned into one disaster after another. It took almost a week after requesting a vegetarian menu to get to me and one evening after ordering some wine it was given away to someone else in error.

The places mentioned we did do the same cruise on Infinity in 2005 and we stopped off in Panama City and some who did get off the ship said they wouldn't do that again. The same applies to San Salvador a bit unstable and no cruise company wants to see its guests having problems ashore. On the gratuities, you did have a suite which mean a Butler and that costs another $3.75 per person per day so that doesn't help but if your cruise was over 14 days as was our it is not a lot given what you might tip in a 4/5 star hotel for the maid and the staff in the diningroom its just you don't normally do it night after night for 14 days. Although I disagreed it is only on these point we enjoyed Infinity; the food; the staff and the tours and certianly would recommend the experience to others.
