You can pay your tips to individuals,or have the recommended amounts added to your shipboard account.You can also pay up front if you like,We did the Panama Canal on the Summit,we could not fault the cruise in any way.The crew were magnificent,the food exceptional,and our accomodation very good.Would advise anybody reading this review to jump at the chance,of a cruise on the Summit, John Saunders Castletown,Isle of Man

Just thought I'd say Hi... we are around the corner in Crawley and have booked our 1st ever cruise aboard Celebrity Solstice next August. We booked through a well known high street TA....Mr. cook and chose to pre-pay gratuities, but are still managing to get confused about the tipping scenario. I take, or Im hoping that since we've paid tips up front then that will be it.. nothing else to pay, except for exceptional circumstances. Keenly reading all forum sites, this and the other !! getting what ever info we can. Tell me are you departing from a non-UK country and flying out the same day. We are but I can help worrying about delays etc ..

Th ship will add about $10 a day for the (distributed as shown by Newbury below). For the service you receive it good value .. We also give a little extra via the envelope to our cabin attendent and the table waiters (if they have taken good care of us. We find its the best and fair way as many people make our day a pleasure some we never see

As it says on Celebrity web site: How much do I pay in gratuities? Subject: Payments It is customary to offer gratuities to staff members you feel have given you exceptional service and personal attention. Celebrity suggests the following guidelines for all guests: • Waiter: $3.50 per day , • Assistant Waiter: $2.00 per day , • Assistant Maitre'd: $1.00 per day , • Stateroom Service: $3.50 per day , ,• Assistant Chief Housekeeper: $0.50 per day , This works out at $10.50pp pd in total.

The cost of tipping is around £5.50 per day per person and you can pay at the time you book and settle your final invoice for the cruise; whilst on board you can add it to your stateroom account or you can simply use cash on the last night before you leave which ever option you choose you will have an envelope to hand to the staff on the last night and those covered are your Stateroom staff [2] and in the restuarant the waiter and his assistant plus the maitre'd. If you have paid in advance or added it to your stateroom account you will get a card to put in your envelope advising the staff you have opted for this method of payment, but they will know you are doing this but even if not their service to you will not be effected. We have cruised on the Millennium and Infinity which are sister ships to the Summit and had a great time amd met some lovely people both as staff on the ship and the passengers.
