Have just returned from a med cruise on the galaxy this month and it was wonderful. Food, service and the ship could not be faulted. Galaxy was refurbished in the Spring, if you look within this forum I am sure there are a lot of posts re her refurb and what was carried out. Service was second to none, this was our second time cruising with X and we are looking into the Summit for next year. Certainly no issues evident on our cruise re adhearing to dress code, formal nights were certainly formal dress! Smart casual and above evenings mainly adheared to within main dining area.

The Galaxy has already been refurbished twice since her launch date - we too watched the Return to The Cruise programme and yes we are sailing on the Galaxy in 40 days time - think cruising is very different to how it was 10 years ago and things are a bit more sophisticated. Not been on Celebrity cruises as yet but did cruise with theor parent company RCCL last November and we were very plesantly surprised so here's hoping we both have a good experience!

I have just returned from a 14 night Baltic cruise on Celebrity Constellation with my wife and two teenage sons. This was my first cruise and overall we found it to be a fantastic experience. It is obviously an American ship but in no way glitzy (we would hate it if it was) but it excels in so many ways. The cabin we had was excellent, the cleanliness outstanding and particularly impressive was the fact that the ship never felt crowded (I couldn't believe there were nearly 2000 passengers and 1000 crew) and also the speed of embarkation/disembarkation - when we visited ports we were straight on and straight off. Food was very good and the ambience in the restaurants was excellent. I can assure you that the dress code was pretty much adhered to. We would definitely book again - my boys said it was the best holiday ever by miles and they loved the ship.

Many people were put of cruising after the first showing of “The Cruise” which featured Galaxy. In truth if you switch from P & O to Celebrity you will immediately notice the difference in so many ways. I was on Galaxy last October and loved every minute and we went through one of the worst storms that year when a Tanker in the same waters went down. She is well skippered with excellent activities and entertainment staff, cleaned and tidied like no other, not too large, the food is terrific and the atmosphere on board is wonderful. Just don’t give your scepticism another thought and go for it... Neil

Hi there we went on a med cruise aboard `Century` (sister to Galaxy)and are going again in Dec Tranatlantic. the Century has been fully refurbished though I understand Galaxy has not been up to now. However let me assure you that Celebrity cruises are certainly 5 star The century class ships ie Galaxy/Century and Mercury are on a slightly smaller scale than their newer ships ie Constellation/Millennium/Summit and Infinity these ships are even more beautiful, we have also been on the `Constellation` in a word wonderful. Please dont think for one moment that they are glitzy in any way, it could`nt be further from the truth,they now have 2 newer ships seting sail on their maiden voyages at the end of this year they are the Solstice class ships. Believe me Celebrity are worthy of their award winning status. Perhapes it may be better for you to try and change your booking to be able to travel on their new ships, the Solstice will be magic, we are going to try and go to celebrate my 70th b`day next year. Now it might sound to you as though I am being paid for this reveiw,no it`s just the truth, as for the Americans they are `Americans` a bit loud but very friendly, regards dressing for dinner it is the English who are the let down there, the americans in their white tux look amazing, you should go with an open mind, you wont regret it. Please check if you can when the Galaxy is due her refurb.And remember Celebrity really is a 5 star fleet and P/O 4 star.
