Q:
I am travelling on the Mercury to Alaska on 09/08/08 and want advice concerning the formal dress code.
I have travelled on the QM2 and had the chance to wear long evenin dress and for my husband, a dinner suit. Is the same dress code observed on the Mercury on their formal evenings?

Hello. We just went on Mercury for the Alaskan cruise from 20-27 July 2008, and we are fans of dressing formally. There were two formal nights on the one week cruise, and about 25% of the men dressed in Tuxedos (UK = dinner jackets). For the rest, the majority of the suits were dark. We were totally in style and the evenings were superb. People did indeed keep to formal dress for the rest of the evening. As we say here, "go for it". Celebrity really does it in style.

The short answer is ...yes. On the Alaskan run the dress code is better observed than in the Caribbean but you will also find that dark suits and cocktail dresses are in vogue at the moment. You will not, however, feel out of place wearing that which you have described. Just remember there are two or three formal evenings on a cruise depending on how long the cruise is. Hope that helps, .... Neil

Celebrity Mercury has a dress code of formal evenings and 'smart casual and above' evenings. Everyone on the ship is reqeusted to adhere to that nights dress code after 6pm. Have you joined the rolcall for your cruise?
