Will be travelling from f lauderdale to puntarenas in columbia and then on to costa rica. I have been told by medical person that 28 jan 2008 costa rican embassy have introduced new rules for anyone travelling into costa rica from columbia. Travel company have said y fever cert may be required to enter country, but not giving a definite answer. We will be docked there for 12 hours before travelling to mexico. Could someone please give me advice - totally confused.

In the UK check with your GP or put your itinerary in an enquiry at the MASTA site... it costs a few pounds, but gives you very precise answers. We did a Panama Canal cruise and had Hep A, Polio, and took Malaria tablets. I think Yellow Fever was recommended but as we are older (quite a lot older) its not recommeded for anyone over 60 or something like that.. can't really remember. I check the MASTA site for all my health requirements abroad. Sometimes your local chemist/pharmasist will have a list too

Celebrity will not offer advise on what jabs are needed - they are not trained medical staff are they. They will refer you to their visa service who do have a medical arm

Hello I would suggest that you contact Celebrity on their free phone number and ask them. If they can't give you an immediate answer they should ring you back with one. This is new and I am surprised that there has been no follow up. A yellow fever jab is required for French Guyana and Devil's Island and having had it I can assure you that there were no after-effects or pain with it. So my advice...check it out Heather

I would follow the medical advise - better to have it so you are protected whereever you may travel to
